Doubt is Mind - Understanding Our True Self - Part 12

Doubt is mind, and you are infinite more than the mind.

In this chapter, we delve into the intricate relationship between the mind and our true self. By understanding this connection, we can begin to harness the mind as a powerful tool for exploring the deeper structure of reality. Rather than seeing the mind as a source of limitation, we will learn how to cultivate it with clarity, allowing it to act as a bridge to higher consciousness and self-awareness.

Doubt is Mind, and You Are Infinitely More Than the Mind

In the previous text, There is No Doubt, we established that doubt is useful for specific tasks but becomes destructive when we seek to live a peaceful and fulfilling life. In this text, we will focus on the vastness of existence that we are—a dimension the mind can neither fully grasp nor understand. When we aim to experience the mysteries of life, doubt and confusion make it impossible to access these higher levels of being.

Doubt and the mind are close companions, and this should be obvious due to the mind's inherent structure, which is dualistic. Duality means seeing things in terms of two opposing sides, and to doubt something, we must exist in this state of duality. In oneness, doubt cannot exist.

Doubt is an internal conversation between two different perspectives of the same thing. In doubt, we are alone, lost in endless inner dialogue. As we said before, doubt can be useful for solving technical and practical issues, but when it comes to living life, it becomes a burden. It darkens the beauty of the present moment.

Doubt distances us from the vastness of our true self.

The mind is a beautiful tool, and when we use it properly, everything is fine. But when the mind starts to use us, we fall into the chaotic state we often consider “normal.” The mind can act as a great map of reality, and doubt, at times, questions this map—which is fine and necessary. However, when we mistake the map for reality itself, we get into serious trouble. In such a state, thinking and fear become more important than life and peace.

When doubt takes over, we become lost in our minds. In this state, money becomes synonymous with wealth, mathematics is mistaken for nature, love turns into possession, and life is reduced to being the opposite of death. The most tragic outcome is that we reduce ourselves to mere personal identity, cutting ourselves off from the cosmic dance of existence.

For evolutionary reasons, many of us live in this state of separation and disgrace, blind to the wonder of life. We fight reality in a futile attempt to control it. This state of disconnection is what we often call “common sense.”

The ironic thing is that we can use doubt to break free from this disconnection. By doubting the conventional ways of living and questioning a system that reduces human beings to mere resources—humans become “human capital”—we can begin to see beyond the materialistic matrix.

As any good firefighter knows, sometimes it is wise to fight fire with fire. So instead of indulging in doubt over trivial matters, let us direct our doubt toward the system, toward culture, and toward society itself. Pointing it out very clearly, our civilization is toxic, and by conforming to it, we are poisoning ourselves and the world. Who wants to carry the burden of knowing they are contributing to the destruction of this beautiful planet?

Going Beyond Doubt Makes Eternity Visible and Experienceable

Once we understand the nature of doubt and its capacity to foster destructive confusion, we can move beyond it. In fact, it's not even a matter of “moving beyond” in the literal sense; this low-energy existence simply falls away on its own.

Why? Because life is structured that way. There may be clouds hiding the sun, but the sun is always there, and it will inevitably break through the clouds.

When we experience the love of life deeply in our hearts, doubt and confusion vanish like dew at dawn. This is the structure of reality: lower forms of existence have no power to withstand the higher ones.

When we realize that doubt is merely a limited form of thinking—especially linked to the personal, ego-driven level of consciousness—we can accept it for what it is. With that acceptance, the vastness of our true self begins to unfold.

As we experience this vastness more deeply, we can clearly differentiate between doubt and uncertainty. Uncertainty is the spice of life—the special quality that makes it so beautiful and intense. But the personal self craves certainty, and this desire blocks us from accessing the expansiveness of our true being.

Look at nature and let it be our teacher. Nature never harbors doubt, nor does it succumb to confusion. It exists effortlessly, in a state of pure, present beingness. We, too, are part of nature. We are nature in the form of a human being. By aligning ourselves with this presence, we gain a deeper understanding of the true structure of reality. This understanding becomes the key to unlocking meaning and purpose in life. Through this alignment, doubt and confusion begin to dissipate, and the abstraction of life returns to its natural, grounded essence.
