I Am Awareness — Understanding Our True Self — Part 2
Pure Perception — Human Awareness — Stillness Is the Gateway to I Am Awareness — Contemplation
Pure Perception
Awareness is pure perception.
The most basic function of the cosmos.
The whole cosmos is aware.
There is no such thing as unawareness.
Awareness is what makes interconnectedness possible.
Without it, life cannot unfold.
Every atom is aware of its protons, neutrons, and electrons.
Every drop of water is aware of the ocean.
Why?
Quite simply because they are interconnected.
We are always aware.
The point is whether we are aware or not.
Human Awareness
Pure awareness gives rise to human awareness (perception, recognition, and understanding in time and space). This kind of awareness is very practical and useful but also very limited. It filters out everything that does not fit into the mind.
Our challenge is to integrate human awareness into cosmic consciousness.
This is the path of wisdom.
The human drama is to believe that human consciousness is the culmination of evolution. Therefore, we place ourselves at the center of life.
Since we are aware in this way, we live at a low level of existence and can only see what we understand or believe.
Stillness Is the Gateway to I Am Awareness
The mind is a beautiful and very useful tool. When it comes to the secrets of life, the mind can draw a map, but that’s it. To unveil the mysteries and let them unfold, as a living experience and not just a mental abstraction, requires the mind to come to rest.
It is pointless to try to silence the mind with the mind, just as it is pointless to transform the ego with the ego. The mind has no access to higher levels of consciousness.
How can we do that? The personal self will try anything, and everything will be in vain. The harder we try, the greater the frustration.
If we want to access pure awareness, stillness is the gateway. When the mental noise subsides, silence arises naturally, without effort.
Nature lives in stillness. Silence carries the seed of stillness. Stillness lives in the space in between. Stillness is ever present in the vast cosmic fields. Stillness is emptiness.
I am awareness becomes real in stillness. We don’t have to do anything. Just be. We cannot reach it because it is already there.
Contemplation
The practice of contemplation leads to the experience of stillness.
Do not contemplate achieving or getting stillness; you will fail.
Contemplate for contemplation, that’s it.
All will come when it comes.
The wonder happens when the personal self takes its natural place.
Then you are what you have always been.
